Availability of Information - The Information Age
Learning more about this confounding enigma known as our sexuality only recently became much easier thanks to the Internet's proliferation. Through websites such as this one, people from all walks of life can converge and discuss their sexual issues from the safety and anonymity of their own homes. Before this new era, sexual information was disseminated mostly through the media and governmental programs, the messages of which generally were polar opposites. Before the so-called sexual revolution of the 1960s, sexual education developed through sparse, narrow channels clouded by taboos and religious persecution. Science finally began claiming sexuality away from religious fanatics towards the late 19th century as overwhelming scientific fact came into public realization, but still the mystery lingers. It is no wonder why still today, so much confusion and misinformation circulates about sexuality.
There is hope- instead of sitting alone with your mind, wondering what the truth is, you are here seeking answers. The next step you can take towards sexual enlightenment is the realization that you and you alone have the power educate yourself about your sexuality and the sexuality of all people. If you have a question about sexual issues, we hope you will trust us as a resource, and you can always head to google.com for some answers. But how do you know you can trust the answers you find? How do you know the sites containing the information are credible?
Considering the Sources - Media or Mania?
When you are presented with sexual information, the intelligent thing is to question this information to make sure it is logical and valid. In its ongoing effort to turn a profit through the entertainment of the masses, often the conventional media outlets blend sexuality and entertainment. No better example of this mixture exists than the infamous Superbowl wardrobe malfunction.
With this in mind, it is wise to question any sexual information disseminated by the media because chances are, the whole intent of the message is designed to make someone money, not to inform people and improve society. Bad news sells. Dirty, nasty, scandalous, raunchy stories sell more copies, while informative studies bore people to sleep.
Analyzing Sexual Messages- Using Your Intelligence
Everyone remembers what color Monica Lewinski's soiled dress was, but no one has any idea how many women are capable of achieving orgasm. In this media-driven society, we only care about sex studies when they are relevant to us- when we are bombarded with them in an incompatible setting, it only further isolates us from the topic. In a comfortable, pressure-free setting, such as an anonymous, friendly, open web site like this one you can see everything everyone is presenting, it's all out in the open for anyone to inspect. Information is easy to compare from each of the personal sources, and credibility is built upon the solid, tried and true advice of the dedicated members. Trust develops in the community, and in time a formidable force is reckoning with the massive ignorance monster. Grandma was right, the proof is in the pudding. Try some of our pudding.
Sex Research on the Web
Inevitably, any sexual behavior and preference data collected here on this site will contain bias, issues with sampling, and errors in methodology, and should only be used for entertainment and discussion purposes. Our goal is to further the collective knowledge of everyone through everyone, not to harvest data and make guesses as to their meanings and then apply those results to everyone.
Seizing the Initiative - Take Control of Your Sexuality
No matter who you are, where you come from, or what your religious background is, you have the power to become sexually enlightened if you are reading this, because it means you are on the Internet. Here, on this site, you will find all kinds of members who are open and willing to discuss sexual and everyday topics of all flavors. The only thing you have to do is sign up and participate- it's free, open to everyone, and already proven to enhance your life and increase your chances of being a healthy, happy person.
