Technical Requirements

In order to utilize our site to the fullest, we recommend browsing in 1024x768 or higher screen resolution mode (lower should work, but with horizontal scrollbars). You will also need to have cookies enabled if you wish to enable auto-login. Javascript is also required for some functions. Most browsers have these options enabled by default.

Registration Problems

Your account must be email activated before you can login. Our site software should automatically send a verification email to the address you supplied when you signed up. If you signed up with an incorrect email address, or it has been more than 2 days since you attempted to sign up, you may try again. Otherwise, try resending the activation email using the link at the top of the page.

Site message problems

Regular members are limited to 10 messages in their inbox. If you need more room, you need to delete some or all of your messages. Supporters have unlimited site messages.

The primary purpose of the site is to spread and discuss information, not serve as a personal message service. The messages are designed to be a secondary outlet for communication to support the primary purpose. Supporters have unlimited personal messaging.

Password and Login problems

If your password is not working, make sure that your caps lock key is off. If you are copy/pasting it, make sure there are no trailing spaces included. The password is case-sensitive. Also, make sure you are spelling your username correctly, and using the exact username reported to you in your confirmation email.

Avatar/image problems

If you want a custom sized avatar image that is 120 by 120 pixels or less, then choose upload your own avatar and then select it. Otherwise, avatars are a maximum of 120 x 120 pixels. Other image maximum sizes in posts are 1200 x 1200, and there is a 2 per post limit. Signature and other profile images must be small and unbroken or they may be deleted without notice to maintain the visual appeal of the community.

What happened to the old Sex Project site(s)?

Before May 14, 2005, we were running different software on different hosts, and had been running as such since late 2002. We ran into trouble and were forced to start anew. We are now housed on a rented, dedicated server. Our memberships are increasing, and now, the future has never looked brighter for us.

Privacy issues

We treat your privacy with the utmost respect. As a member, you have the option to hide your displayed email address and all of your user information that you have supplied in order to register an account is stored encrypted in a secure database. The administrator does not have access to your password. You may also choose to hide your online status in the Account Settings area of your Profile. Also, for your enhanced security while using our site, no Search query information is logged in any form.

Modifying your profile and displayed info

You will probably want to customize your profile once you have registered an account and logged in. To do this, click the Profile button at the top of the page, directly under your user greeting, in the main button bar. Profiles have many more settings available for you to choose than the old site offered. You will notice a menu on the left of your Profile Summary page, with many selectable options.

Following topics

If you wish to be notified via email whenever there are new replies to a certain topic, click Notification in your Profile. Here you will find notification settings which can be saved. To watch topics, click Notify at the top right of the topic you wish to follow.

What are the possible membergroups?

Founder
Site creator and owner, confers with existing staff and decides upon community course of action

Administrator
Site manager, maintains community and manages editorial staff

Editor
Site-wide moderation, site-wide post/topic edit ability, full site access. Editors are responsible for managing the boards on the site and assisting members.

Supporter
Several special perks and features. No ads, Supporter Lounge access, unlimited site messaging ability, and more. See the Supporter Information page.

Member (1-5 grey stars)
Post based groups, profile, limited abilities, community access, posting, 10 personal message limit

Guest
No posts, no member functions, limited community access

Jail
Jailed members have been placed into a highly restrictive member group, with access similar to guests, because they have repeatedly broken our rules and numerous complaints against them have been received. Getting out of jail may be done in one of two ways: waiting until the jailtime expires, or purchasing a Supporter subscription. Jailing is not done lightly, we aim to use it only when necessary.

Stars and member titles indicate a rough estimation of how much a member has contributed to the community. With time, you will earn more stars and more respectable titles depending on your actions and contributions.
